Arthur "Artie" James Morris

May 30, 1937 — February 15, 2026

Arthur (Artie) James Morris of Miramichi passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 88. Born in Newcastle, NB, on May 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Clayton and Kathleen (Hay) Morris.

Artie was deeply devoted to the love of his life, Pauline (Fitzpatrick), with whom he shared 63 blissful years of marriage. Together, they raised three sons, Derek (Bobbi), Brian (Amy), and Colin (Krista), and one daughter, Andrea.

A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, it was his deep faith in God that sustained him throughout his journey.

Family meant everything to Artie. He played an active role in the lives of his loved ones throughout the generations, offering love, support, guidance, and strength with unwavering faith. Artie showed up for his family in many ways. The family recalls some of their fondest memories being made during summers at the ‘Weloveit’ Lodge, along with visiting relatives for get-togethers, and going to family reunions. Artie and Pauline drove the grandchildren to school every day over a period spanning approximately 18 years and could be found in the front row of every one of their events, cheering them and their friends on. They celebrated daily life, important milestones, and often talked about family vacations that included trips to Disney World, never taking a moment for granted. Artie was overjoyed with the arrival of his great-grandchildren and took pleasure in watching them grow.

Artie learned the value of hard work as a teenager, first working at Creaghan’s Department Store before travelling to work at a mine in Elliott Lake, Ontario, and later at Health Steele Mines to help support his family. In the years following this, Artie co-owned and operated a Garbage/Sanitation business, Morris Bros. Texaco, co-owned Lange and Morris Sports Shop, co-founded and co-owned Northumberland News, and co-owned Blue Stone Developments.

Allied Realty was established in 1972. Recognized as an industry leader early on, Artie received multiple annual awards for top sales in the province from the New Brunswick Real Estate Association (NBREA). The business eventually evolved to include sons and co-owners Brian and Colin, who have worked tirelessly by their father’s side for over 30 years. Pauline also played a huge supportive role behind the scenes. Artie was blessed to have a wonderful group of people working at Allied Realty over the past 54 years and considered each of them to be his family. He took great pride in their accomplishments and treasured these relationships. Artie was a recipient of the Miramichi Chamber of Commerce Business Award of Excellence in 2013. He was also made a Lifetime Honourary Member of the NBREA, its highest honour, in celebration of over 50 years of innovative leadership and service to the profession. Most recently in 2025, the City of Miramichi honoured Artie as Freeman of the City.

He lived by the manta, “Every day is a great day and tomorrow is going to be even better.”

Artie valued community and was a great supporter of numerous events and groups. Fond of sports, Artie was an avid Timberwolves fan since their inception 25 years ago. He served as a city councillor, being the youngest to enter office at the time, played an integral role in the evolution of Miramichi Mall, spearheaded fundraising initiatives involving Miramichi Hospital, the Miramichi Civic Center, and served on the Miramichi Hospital Board as chairman.

A lover of people with a quick wit, he enjoyed reminiscing, telling stories, reading, discussing current events, attending hockey games, and daily walks.

He is survived by wife Pauline (Fitzpatrick), sons Derek (Bobbi) Morris, Brian (Amy) Morris, and Colin (Krista) Morris; Grandsons Nathan (Fawn) Morris and Matthew (Jenna) Morris, and their mother Carol Morris; Granddaughters Alyssa (Colton) Connors and Hillary (Casey) Ward; Great grandchildren Billy and Hugh Morris, Callie Connors, Myla Morris, and Asher Ward; Extended family including many cherished nieces and nephews.

Artie was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Aside from his parents and precious daughter Andrea Morris, he was predeceased by five sisters: Helen, Kay, Mona, Anne, Doreen and three brothers: Patrick, William, and Harold.
