André Joseph Villeneuve passed away at Percy's Place on Wednesday, September 24th, at the age of 80, after a sudden bout with cancer.
He was retired from the Atlantic Institution, in Renous. He was a prominent member of the Newcastle Lions Club, holding all positions, and was a Melvin Jones award winner, along with a life member. He was also a member of the Newcastle Omega Curling League, Newcastle Senior Bowling League and a member of St Andrew's Anglican Church.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Ramsay) and her children, Ricky Mather (Pam) of Miramichi and Lyndsay Mather of Victoria, BC. He is also survived by his brother Jean Marie (Francine) of Saint-Philémon, Quebec; his sister Roseann of Quebec; brothers-in-law, André Trembly of Chicoutimi, Quebec, Gordon Ramsay (Ann) of Stratford, PEI, Graham Wade (Mary) of Miramichi and Karl Wade (Diane) of Miramichi; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Robichaud (Roland) and Cindy Ramsay (Jeff Inkpen) both of Miramichi; his "chosen" grandson, Chase, and step grandchildren, Klinton and Grayson Miller of Fredericton; his stepdaughter Karen (Bruce) Miller of Fredericton; his stepson Ralph Doucette; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Blanche (Tremblay) and Hyppolyte Villeneuve, he was predeceased by his first wife Marilyn (Wade); his brothers, Robert, Marcel, and Christian; his sisters, Denise and Suzanne all of Quebec; and his mother-in-law, Dianne Ramsay of Miramichi.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will receive relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held from St Andrew's Anglican Church, on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 11 am, with Rev. Richard Steeves officiating. Interment will take place in the Miramichi Cemetery.
