Allan MacKenzie

June 15, 1942 — December 14, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, and grandfather, Allan MacKenzie, who passed away peacefully at Percy’s Place on December 14, 2023, at the age of 81, with his wife of 56 years, Joan, by his side.

Born in Blackville, NB to the late William and Alice (Colford) MacKenzie. Allan joined the Royal Canada Air Force at the age of 17 and spent 26 years proudly serving his country as a Warrant Officer. He loved to reminisce stories of his time spent in the military and was very proud of being a Canadian Peacekeeper in Egypt. Allan was an avid curler and enjoyed watching it on television, but his one true love was the Toronto Maple Leafs. He never missed watching a game and cheering on his beloved team. He also had a passion for old cars, a hobby he has enjoyed his whole life. You’d often see him out washing and shining them up in the driveway for hours. Allan had a way with words and lived his life with a laid-back positive attitude that was irresistible to all those around. He had kindness and compassion for all and if you met him, you immediately loved him. Allan was so proud of his 8 grandchildren and would never miss any opportunity to brag about them. He loved being a Poppy and they will miss him very much.

Allan will be greatly missed by his wife Joan (Johnston), his children Natalee (Brent) Morehouse of Miramichi, Jamie (Cheri) MacKenzie of Summerside, PEI & Becky (Jim) Sullivan of Miramichi. As well as his 8 grandchildren MacKenzie & Kamryn Morehouse, Emma, Carly & Kate MacKenzie, Charlie, Jack & James Sullivan. His brother Omar (Lilah) MacKenzie, brother in-law Fred (Paula) Johnston, sister-in-laws Tirza MacKenzie & Mae MacKenzie. As well as many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides his parents Allan was predeceased by his sisters Viola (Lloyd) Forrest and Georgina (Murray) Curtis. Brothers William MacKenzie & Arthur (Irene) MacKenzie. Brother-in-law Wilmot Walls and stepfather Everett Curtis. Father and mother-in-law Lee & Ruby Johnston.

We would also like to take this time to thank all the wonderful staff at Percy’s Place. To all the nurses who treated Allan with such compassion and care, you will forever hold a special place in our hearts. And to Dr. Gerard & Judy Losier for your amazing dedication to palliative patients in this community.

As expression of sympathy donations may be made to Percy’s Place Hospice.
