  • Alfred Raymond Drillen, of Derby Junction, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 87.

Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Sherrard) Drillen. He worked as a maintenance truck driver with Repap until his retirement.

He was a quiet man but his passions were his family, yard sales, Toronto Blue Jays and Sunday breakfasts at his beloved cottage. He was moved out of his comfort zone on many occasions since the passing of his wife. He was a good sport to go on numerous adventures with his pushy children and usually enjoyed the new experiences in the end. He died as he lived- without fuss.

He will be greatly missed by his four daughters Mary Alice Ahern of Derby Junction, Nora Drillen (Greg Matheson) of Miramichi, Joan Drillen (Brian Donovan) of Miramichi, and Nancy Drillen (D.J. Mason) of Miramichi; two sons Stanley (Shelley Aube) of St Charles, and Gordon (Paula) of Miramichi; two sisters Irene Clouston (Oman) of Derby Junction, and Alice Vanderbeck (Burton) of Millerton; eight grandchildren Ryan, Alison, Megan, Katlyn, Kirstie, Jordan, Nadine, and Elizabeth; four great grandchildren Kalli, Susie,Jack, and Evan; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Noreen Drillen, three brothers William Clouston, Sterling Drillen, and Norman Drillen, and son-in-law Warren Ahern.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 11 am, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Willard Watling officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Miramichi SPCA, or to a memorial of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, telephone (506) 622-7741
