Alcide Joseph Gagnon

C’est avec tristesse que nous annonçons le décès d’ Alcide Joseph Gagnon, de Miramichi, décédé le dimanche 12 avril 2026, à Losier Hall, à l’âge de 82 ans.

Né le 19 janvier 1944, il était le fils de feu Zacharie et Elvina (Arseneau) Gagnon. Il a travaillé comme électricien avant sa retraite et était membre des Chevaliers de Colomb Père-Alfred-Landry Beaverbrook-Bellefond-Miramichi ainsi que du conseil communautaire Carrefour Beausoleil.

C’était un homme discret, attaché à sa famille et à sa foi. Il aimait rendre service aux autres et était toujours prêt à aider.

Il manquera profondément à son épouse bien-aimée depuis 58 ans, Lorraine (Cormier) Gagnon de Miramichi; sa fille Janice Gagnon de Miramichi; son fils Charles Gagnon (Lisa) de Miramichi; et sa mère Elvina Gagnon. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil quatre frères: Armand (Cécile) de Dieppe, Paul (feu Mary Lynn) d’Irishtown, Louis (Michèle) de Notre Dame, et Donald (Josette) d’Irishtown; trois soeurs: Denise (Yvon) Melanson de Moncton, Jeannette (Andrew) Gagnon-Brown de Dieppe, et Nicole (Ronald) Gaudet de Moncton; petite-fille, Claire; ainsi que plusieurs nièces et neveux. Il sera aussi manqué par la famille Cormier dont il était très proche.

Outre son père, il a été précédé dans la mort par sa fille Monica Gagnon; son frère Maurice Gagnon; sa sœur Yvette; et sa petite-fille Caitlynn.

La famille souhaite remercier le personnel de Losier Hall, en particulier celui de Flanagan Court, pour leurs excellents soins et leur compassion.

Les visites auront lieu au salon funéraire Northumberland le jeudi 16 avril 2026, de 18 h à 20 h. La messe des funérailles chrétiennes sera célébrée le vendredi 17 avril 2026 à 11 h, à l’église catholique romaine Saint Patrick, à Nelson, avec le père Anthony Das Papu comme célébrant. L’inhumation aura lieu au cimetière de l’église à une date ultérieure.

Les dons peuvent être faits à la Fondation des maladies du cœur et de l’AVC, ou au cimetière Saint Patrick.

Alcide Joseph Gagnon, of Miramichi, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Losier Hall, at the age of 82.

Born in Rogersville, he was the son of Elvina (Arseneau) and the late Zacharie Gagnon. He worked as an electrician prior to retirement, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Père-Alfred-Landry Council and conseil communautaire Carrefour Beausoleil.

He was a quiet man of family and faith. He enjoyed serving others and was always willing to help.

He will be missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorraine (Cormier) Gagnon; daughter Janice Gagnon of Miramichi; son Charles Gagnon (Lisa) of Miramichi; his mother Elvina Gagnon; three sisters, Denise Melanson (Yvon) of Moncton, Jeannette (Andrew) of Dieppe, and Nicole Gaudet (Ronald) of Moncton; four brothers, Armand Gagnon (Cécile) of Dieppe, Paul Gagnon (Late Mary) of Irishtown, Louis Gagnon (Michelle) of Notre Dame, and Donald Gagnon (Josette) of Irishtown; granddaughter, Claire; and several nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by the Cormier family .

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his daughter Monica Gagnon; brother Maurice Gagnon; sister Yvette; and granddaughter Caitlynn.

The family would like to thank the staff at Losier Hall, especially Flanagan Court, for their excellent care and compassion.

Visitation will take place at Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11 am, at St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, in Nelson, with Father Anthony Das Papu officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to St Patrick’s Cemetery Fund.
